Grower Tours

We love working with local growers because it means fresher flowers, longer-lasting blooms, and stems that are grown with real care and attention.

The BC farms we work with all share the same commitment to quality, consistency, and thoughtful growing practices. Whether greenhouse or field-grown, every stem is produced with intention, and that care shows in the final product.

There are so many amazing growers in our region who don’t always get the recognition they deserve because of the demand for imported flowers. By choosing local, we’re not only getting better product, we’re also supporting our community and helping strengthen the local floral economy.

Eurosa Farm Tour

For over 46 years, Eurosa Farms has been growing premium roses right here in Western Canada. We had the privilege of touring their family run farm, and it left us with an even greater appreciation for the people behind every stem.

It’s easy to see a bunch of roses and forget the care, knowledge, and dedication that went into growing them. Walking through the greenhouses and watching the post-harvest process reminded us that exceptional quality begins long before flowers ever reach a florist’s cooler. Every stem is carefully hydrated, graded, and prepared to ensure it performs beautifully.

One thing that always stands out to us is the incredible quality of Eurosa’s roses. Their freshness, strength, and vase life are a testament to what can be achieved when flowers don’t have to travel thousands of kilometres before reaching the customer. It’s a reminder that we are incredibly fortunate to have growers like Eurosa right here in British Colombia!

Behind every beautiful rose is a family, a team, and decades of dedication. We’re grateful to Eurosa Farms for opening their doors and reminding us just how special our local growers truly are.

Blue Magic Greenhouses

We stopped by Blue Magic Greenhouses in Pitt Meadows for a behind-the-scenes look at how their specialty flowers are grown for the floral industry.

Owner Dave Captine walked us through everything from hydrangeas and lilies to viburnum and lilacs, and shared how much the seasons shape what they grow. Things like light and temperature can naturally change bloom timing and even flower colour, which makes growing locally pretty dynamic.

We also got to see how much care goes into each step, from harvesting at just the right moment to moving plants through different greenhouse spaces as the seasons change.

It was a great reminder of how much knowledge and flexibility it takes to grow beautiful flowers locally.

VanGameren Greenhouses

Some of the most impressive growers aren’t always the biggest, they’re the ones who know their crops inside and out. That was exactly our experience visiting VanGameren Greenhouses, a family-run farm dedicated to growing exceptional flowers with care, precision, and generations of experience.

Walking through the flower fields, we saw everything from vibrant butterfly weed to stunning dahlias in soft peach, blush, and cream tones. Every crop is grown with intention, and it quickly became clear that healthy soil, careful watering, and timing aren’t just growing practices—they’re the foundation of quality flowers.

One of the biggest surprises was learning just how much this farm produces. Despite its modest size, VanGameren grows more than 30,000 stems each week, proving that quality and efficiency can go hand in hand.

What we appreciate most about farms like VanGameren is the family behind the flowers. Their passion, knowledge, and commitment are woven into every stem they harvest. These are the growers quietly supplying our industry with beautiful local product, helping shape the floral community we know and love.

Ravenek Greenhouses

One of the most fascinating parts of visiting Ravenek Greenhouses was seeing just how much planning goes into growing flowers year-round. While many of us admire the finished stem, every crop begins months earlier with careful scheduling, trialing new varieties, and creating the right growing conditions long before harvest.

John walked us through their impressive 52-week production cycle, where new crops are seeded and planted every week. From testing new snapdragon varieties to using supplemental lighting during the darker months, every decision is made with quality and consistency in mind.

We were also amazed by the scale of their operation. At peak season, Ravenek ships over 16,000 stems in a single week, each one carefully graded, bunched, and prepared before making its way to florists.

What stood out most wasn’t just the volume—it was the dedication behind it. Growing flowers at this level takes experience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for the craft.
